Fort
Lauderdale, Florida (July 17, 2003) –
Fort Lauderdale based International Yacht Collection (IYC),
one of the world’s foremost mega-yacht brokerage, charter
and management firms, confirmed this week its plans to relocate
to the new Portside Yachting Center at 1850 SE 17th Street.
IYC founder Steve Hudson explained the move, “IYC’s
relocating because we’re growing dramatically and we
wanted maximum exposure to 17th Street which is our industry’s
premier address.” Overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway,
Hudson confirmed a lease of 11,500 sq. ft at the new complex,
with “visibility and signage opportunities you just
cannot find on the Causeway” per Hudson.
IYC,
with offices in Sint Maarten, Netherlands Antilles and Newport,
Rhode Island, specializes in the sale, charter, management,
and crew placement of mega-yachts. The company is focused
on creating the ultimate one-stop agency, offering a team
of experienced industry professionals to assist its clients
with all aspects of yachting. Hudson states, “We provide
clients a solid base of talented yacht brokers, charter brokers,
crew agents, yacht managers and crew training, along with
the convenience of offices located in the world’s three
most important hubs”.
IYC
goes into the 80,000 sq. ft. Portside Yachting Center complex
as the lead tenant with its founder and owner Steve Hudson
as a co-investor in the purchase of this upscale commercial
center by Portside Yachting Center LLC. The buying group plans
to orient the leasing to tenants in the robustly growing $20
billion per year marine services and mega-yacht industries.
IYC will be relocating from its current location elsewhere
on the 17th St. Causeway.
Partners
in the undertaking include Andrew Martin of Brickell Sales
Corp., leasing agent for the building, and Mark Ellert of
IAG Florida, Inc. which arranged financing and will oversee
the project’s redevelopment. Martin, who owns numerous
retail properties along the Causeway added, “The needs
of mega-yacht tenants like International Yachting Collection
are unique, especially in terms of their office location,
its prestige and proximity to others in the industry. We’re
delighted IYC decided to make PYC their home”. “With
this project, we fulfill the community’s long-standing
need for a first class office destination that caters to yachting
and marine services tenants who want or need a presence in
Ft. Lauderdale,” commented Ellert.
Adjacent
to the Broward County Convention Portside Yachting Center
sits at the heart of international yachting activity, including
the celebrated Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, known
as the “world’s premier event for super yachts”.
The annual event draws spectators and boat enthusiasts from
around the globe and is a major source of tourism revenue
for the City of Fort Lauderdale.
